Dear Dan:

We learned so much from you and your love of animals, classical music and the arts.  We learned from your kind and sensitive spirit, your gentle and non-judgmental attitude toward others.  You gave us insight into accepting those who did not fit into our very limited mold.   You freed us from ourselves and pompous biases.  You expanded our world.  It would have been so small and constrained without you.

There was still so much to learn from you.  You taught us what is really important in this world.  We have a dog now because of you, we visit art fairs and museums and actually enjoy doing so because of you, we traveled to Italy because of you, we are not afraid to die now because of you.  You opened our eyes to a new understanding of God and his ways.  You truly were a gift from above.

You are loved and missed beyond words, and we live with the desire of honoring your memory until we see you again.

Always in our hearts,
Mom and Buddy

I miss you, Danny, and I love you brother.
Ray

Dear Dan,

I miss you so much!  You were the most kind-hearted, loving person I’ve ever known.  I miss our conversations and being able to laugh and joke with each other.  It was so easy to be ourselves around each other because I always knew that no matter what was said or done, we understood one another.

As I look back on our days growing up, from mom telling me how you used to fight to get to push me in the stroller, to sneaking in each others rooms during “nap time” on Sundays to play, to even fighting with each other during those “wonderful” teenage years!  (Remember the “spatula” incident?)

I think of you every day and wonder how our lives would be different if you were still here.  You are so deeply missed, but never forgotten.

See you again!
I love you!
Angie

P.S.  I know you are watching down over me and I hope I make you proud.  Also, tell Grandma I love her and miss her too!
